Casino Game Odds

All casino games have been designed with the house in mind so no casino on earth would offer a game that was not profitable for them. With that being said it doesn’t mean you can’t win in a casino, it just means you won’t win in the long term. With a little luck and skill many players walk away from casinos with profits. If they didn’t people would stop going to casinos.

The best example of the house edge would be in roulette. If you bet $10 on a single number it would pay off 35-1. But wait a roulette table has two zeros (American) or one (EU), which means that the true odds are not really 35-1 but 36 or 37-1. This is what give the casino an edge.

Casino card game odds are set by the game rules very much like roulette. But in some games like blackjack the players actions can affect the odds.

Video poker odds are set with the games pay table. But the pay tables don’t pay true odds although they are very close to a 100% payback. The casinos cannot control what cards may appear but they can reduce the pay tables to make the game more in the casinos favor.

Slot machines are the only casino games where the odds could be manipulated. This can be done in several ways. They could remove symbols from the wheels or edit the pay table to lower the payouts.
