Craps Glossary

Craps is arguably one of the more confusing games to learn at the casino, and the vast array of terminology doesn't help. Below are some of the more common terms used on a game of craps and their meaning.

Aces: Betting on the fact that a two will be the next roll.
Any Craps: Betting the next roll will be two, three, or twelve.
Any Seven: Betting the next roll will be seven.
Big Red: Slang for the word seven.
Black: $100 chips.
Bones: Another word for dice.
Boxcars: Slang for the number twelve.
Boxman: Supervisor who sits between the dealers across from the stick man.
Box Numbers: 4-5-6-8-9-10.
Boys or The Boys: Another word for dealers.
Cold Dice: A term for a table where nobody is making their point.
Color In: A term used when cashing out smaller chips for larger chips when exiting the table.
Come bet: Betting after the point is established.
Come out roll: The initial dice roll to establish a point.
Comp: Freebies for gamblers.
Crap Numbers: 2,3 and 12.
Craps Check: Hedging a pass line bet by betting on any craps during the come out roll.
Don't Come bet: A don't pass bet that was made after the point was established.
Don't Pass bet: Betting that a shooter will not make his point.
Double odds: Odds bet that is double the size as the original pass/come bet.
Eye in the Sky: Security cameras in ceiling.
Front Line: A phrase for pass line bet.
Garden: Also known as field bet.
George: A good tipper.
Green: $25 chips.
Hard Way: Betting on 4, 6, 8, or 10 that wins only if the dice pairs.
Hi-Lo: Betting that 2 & 12 will roll next.
Hi-Lo-Yo: Betting that 2,12 & 11 will roll next.
Hop bet: Betting that the next roll will be a specific combination of the dice.
Horn bet: Betting that the next roll will be 2, 3, 11, or 12, made in multiples of 4, with one unit on each of the numbers.
Horn High bet: Betting in multiples of 5 with one unit on three of the horn numbers, and two units on the "high" number (number 12).
Hot Dice or Hot Table: Players are winning, good dice throwing.
Inside Numbers: Betting on 5-6-8-9
Lay bet: Betting that a 7 with roll before a 4,5,6,8,9, or 10 rolls.
Lay-Out: Section of felt chips are placed.
Little Joe: Pair of twos or hard four.
Marker: The plastic chip marking the point.
Mark the Point: Dealer using the marker to show the point number.

Midnight: The number 12.
Natural: A seven or 11 thrown on the come out roll for a winning bet.
One Roll Bet: A single roll bet.
Odds Bet: A secondary bet made along with the pass line bet.
On: Bets are in action.
Outside Numbers: The box numbers 4, 5, 9, 10.
Parlay: Including your winnings to the original bet and wagering it all.
Pass Line: Betting that a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 will be rolled before a 7 is rolled.
Point: The number established by the come out roll.
Right Better: Gambler with a bet on the pass line.
Rack: Rail to store your chips.
Shooter: Person tossing the dice.
Stick man: Casino dealer with the stick who calls numbers.
World Bet: A bet on 2,3,11,12 along with any seven.
