Texas Holdem Poker is by far the most popular variation of poker on the planet. The game is everywhere you look. They now have daily televised texas holdem tournaments. Just about everyone is playing it now, it's no longer a game played in smokey backrooms.
Texas Holdem Comes in three variations.
The game begins with the two players sitting to the left of the dealer putting the small and big blind in the pot. The dealer will then deal every player two card face down and five card in the center of the table face down. These cards are community cards that all the players can use to make a hand. Now the fist person sitting to the left of the big blind can either fold, call the blind, or raise the bet. Once this person makes their move then the next person gets the same options. This will continue to go around the table until everyone had a chance to bet, call, or raise.
Once that betting round is complete the dealer will flip over the first three community cards for all to see. (Also known as the flop.) Now the second betting round begins where the person sitting to the left of the button acts first. They can either check or raise. Just as with the first round the betting options will go around the table until everyone had a chance to bet, raise, or call.
Now the dealer will flip over the fourth card and betting will take place starting with the person sitting to the left of the button. Then the dealer will flip over the last card and you will have the final betting round. Once this is all completed the person with the best five card hand using their two down cards and the five community cards. Players can also win the game by betting and making everyone else at the table fold their hand.
Note: In limit holdem the minimum bet doubles after the fourth community card is flipped.
