Deuces Wild Video Poker Strategy

Deuces wild video poker is one of the more popular video poker variations. As with many video poker variations there is an optimal method in Deuces Wild video poker. Below is what I call ‘The Best Deuces Wild Video Poker Strategy’.

As the name suggests the 2’s in Deuces wild are considered wild cards. This means they can be used as whatever card you want. So in theory you could flop 4 deuces.

Use one of the following lists to decide on what hand you should be targeting when you get your chance to redraw some new cards. The first list is for when you get dealt zero deuces, the second for when you get dealt one deuce, the third for three, etc. You should always choose the highest ranked hand that you can make.

  1. Royal Flush
  2. 4 Cards to a Royal Flush
  3. Straight Flush
  4. 4 of a Kind
  5. Full House
  6. 3 of a Kind
  7. Flush
  8. Straight
  9. 4 Cards of a Straight Flush
  10. 3 Cards of a Royal Flush
  11. 1 Pair
  12. 4 Cards of a Flush
  13. 4 Cards of a Open Ended Straight - except 3456
  14. 3 Cards of a Straight Flush
  15. 4 - 5 - 6(s)
  16. 3 - 4 - 5(s)
  17. Ten - Jack
  18. 3 Cards to a Straight Flush - with two holes, from 7 to King
  19. Ten, Queen or Jack, Queen
  20. 3 - 4 - 5(s) OR 3 - 5 - 6(s)
  21. 4 Cards to A Royal Straight Flush, with 1 gap (3456 but not Ace345)
  22. All Other Hands - Draw 5 new cards

  5. 4 cards to a Wild Royal Straight Flush
  6. Full House

  11. 4 Cards to a Straight Flush, with 1 gap( 2 & 3-4-5(s) and 2 & 4-5-6(s))
  12. 4 Cards to a Straight Flush Open Ended with Two gaps, from 7 to King High
  13. 2 &Ace34(s) OR 2 & Ace35(s) OR 2 & Ace45(s)
  14. 3 Cards to a Royal Flush - but NOT with an Ace
  15. 3 Cards to a Straight Flush - open ended, From 2 & 67(s) up to 2 & 910
  16. 3 Cards to a Royal with an Ace
  17. Deuce Only

  1. Wild Royal Flush

  6. 4 Cards forming a open ended straight flush ( 2,2 & 6-7(s) up to 2,2 & 9-10(s))
  7. 2 Deuces - draw 3 new cards

Dealt 3 Deuces

  1. Wild Royal Flush
  2. 5 of a Kind (2, 2, 2 and a pair)
  3. 3 Deuces only - Draw 2 new cards

  1. 4 Deuces - Draw 1 new card
