Since 1 April 2026 a Ksa-licensed casino must run its live games from a studio under video surveillance with the recordings kept, analyse that footage for fraud and for signs of problem play, and staff the tables only with trained dealers whose reliability it has verified.

Those conditions sit in the Regeling kansspelen op afstand and apply to the live lobby specifically.

Verification runs through Dutch banks for most players, which is where newcomers have the most questions. What counts is that your address is in the Netherlands and that the bank account is in your own name.

Are Live Dealer Casinos Legal in the Netherlands?

Yes. Online gambling has been legal in the Netherlands since 1 October 2021 under the Remote Gambling Act (Wet kansspelen op afstand, Koa). A legal live dealer casino holds a Kansspelautoriteit licence and the number is public.

Operators without one may not target players here, live tables included, and their sites are geo-blocked for Dutch IP addresses.

Every Ksa-licensed casino must check new players against Cruks, the national self-exclusion register, and that check requires a BSN, the Dutch citizen service number. Residents with a BSN, including expats, can register; visitors without one cannot.

You also need an address in the Netherlands and a bank account in your own name for verification. Using a VPN to reach a Dutch casino from abroad breaks the casino’s terms and can void a payout.

Online live dealer casinos with a Dutch licence carry a statutory duty of care. At registration you set limits for deposits, balance and playing time; lowering one takes effect at once, raising one after a waiting period.
