The American Gaming Association’s Responsible Gambling Education Week which is in its 22nd iteration right now was mentioned by Representative Dina Titus who has been the United States Representative for Nevada’s 1st congressional district since 2013.

“I am proud to represent Las Vegas, the gold standard when it comes to gaming and gaming regulation. Gaming generates jobs for 1.8 million Americans, providing $74bn in wages, benefits, and tips. The US casino industry at large generates more than $40bn in federal, state, and local taxes, supporting a range of needed services like hospitals, schools, transportation routes, and public safety,” said Titus in her statement.

In addition, she explained that she rises to recognize the Responsible Gaming Education Week which the American Gaming Association established 21 years ago, in 1988 with the purpose to promote responsible gaming nationwide and to educate employees and customers on the subject.

The Representative also gave recognition to the exceptional work of industry employees and their outstanding service and education that they offer to everyone who visits the casinos. She explained that the industry gives its best to train the employees in best practices for recognizing and dealing with problem gaming and patrons are aware of options for help if they need it. According to Titus, the industry makes significant contributions of millions of dollars each year for research and treatment of gambling addiction and therefore, it is important responsible gaming to become an integral part of their daily operations.

This Year RGEW Took Place from September 15 to 21

This year the Responsible Gaming Education Week took place from September 15 to 21, dates which were announced by President and CEO Bill Miller back in August. Miller took that occasion to highlight that the American Gaming Association and its members prioritize responsible gaming which is why RGEW brings together industry, advocacy, regulator and other key stakeholders to promote transparency and gaming literacy while showcasing their everyday commitment to responsible gaming.

As already mentioned, the Responsible Gaming Education Week was first established back in 1998, however, only this time in its 21-year-long history it received a Congressional Record’s recognition.

The yearly event was even declared to make Las Vegas a better community and tourism destination due to its tireless efforts to promote safer and healthier gambling in times when gambling can easily become an addiction.
